About the Course

WHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?

This course is designed for investigators, analysts, journalists, compliance professionals, and anyone with a need to trace and analyze crypto transactions using open-source intelligence (OSINT). It is ideal for those with some experience in digital investigations, financial crime, or due diligence, and who want to add practical blockchain analysis to their skill set. Basic familiarity with cryptocurrencies or data research is recommended, but you don’t need to be a blockchain expert to benefit.



Training Outline (each session = 1 day)

Session 1: Introduction to Blockchain & Crypto Fundamentals

  • How blockchains work

  • Key terminology: addresses, wallets, transactions

  • Overview of major cryptocurrencies

  • Basics of crypto tracing

  • Case studies: Crypto in investigations


Session 2: Crypto OSINT Tools & Techniques

  • Using block explorers and transaction search tools

  • Identifying wallets, addresses, and entity attribution

  • Tracking transactions across chains

  • Open-source datasets, tip sites, and darknet tracing

  • Hands-on: Tracing a sample transaction


Session 3: Building OSINT Workflows for Crypto Investigations

  • Automating blockchain investigations

  • Reporting findings and building evidence

  • Legal and compliance considerations

  • Integrating blockchain tracing into broader OSINT workflows

  • Group exercise: End-to-end investigation

Vasile is an OSINT investigator and AI automation expert. He is the founder of Probe Point Analytics and the creator of OpenDossier — an LLM-powered platform for due diligence. Vasile has trained teams at the Clooney Foundation, Amnesty International, and EUROPOL, and contributed to the Project Mariupol war crimes mapping initiative. His work focuses on integrating LLMs, automation tools, and graph analysis into investigative workflows.
